Next job is to take her to Surrey Rolling Road in Chobham and pop her on the dyno. We are expecting around 130bhp, this does not sound alot but in a car weighing just 723kg you get alot of ‘bang for your buck’ – 0-60 in around 5 secs, and a top speed of 140mph plus. The car is not all about speed its about controlling its weight, its handling, its braking and its agility/ability on the edge of is chassis dynamics.

Part two of the project will be to increase the power but this will involve ECU upgrade and modifications to the engines internals and to the gearbox and flywheel. The most you can genuinely and safely get out of the K-series engine is around 190-220bhp. This upper end puts the performance of the car into supercar territory with 0-60 in around 4 secs and 0-100 coming up in under 10 secs – all fun for the future.

Pictures to follow of the finished project – watch this space. Also a diary of our exploits will appear once she starts her track life which will be on Saturday 13th March 2010 at Goodwood.
